Volunteer of the year

2019: Camilla Bartholdsen

Camilla Bartholdsen has for several years been the most important piece in creating a great start and finish area. Be it up and down rigging, recruitment of volunteers or the organization of the volunteers. She is clear and articulate, which makes it super easy to relate to her.

Camilla also has an eye for the small details, and that is an important quality when running such an area. In the last couple of years, the arrangement around the starts has increased, and Camilla should have part of the credit for that.

We must also mention Arnt Bartholdsen who, together with Camilla, has contributed over several years to Offroad Finnmark.

2018: Kristin Aune

For the past two years, Kristin Aune has contributed to checkpoint Bidjovaggi, and has left a deep mark on our participants. The way she takes care of them is absolutely amazing. She brings home-baked cakes, gives them foot massages, is good at communicating, and has a genuine desire for all the riders to have a good time.

“In 2017, we had a visit from a Spanish team, which participated for the first time. The conditions were very wet, and the Spaniards were probably surprised by how demanding it was. After fighting to checkpoint Bidjovaggi, there was a stop. Of course, a big drop after to have traveled so far to participate. At the checkpoint, they are well taken care of, and Kristin offers the most tired of them to warm up in the cart. She also asks if he wants her to join or not. All this happens in the middle at night, and it will be a challenge to get them down from there. Kristin ends up driving them all the way down to Alta, where they find a place to sleep at the school. Kristin asks if there is anything more she can do for them, but they say no , and tells them that they will go to the shop early in the morning to get some white rice, to stabilize their stomachs. When they wake up the next day, Kristin will have pre-cooked white rice ready.”

A fantastic person who we at Offroad Finnmark are proud to have on the team. She is one of the things that keeps our riders coming again and again 🙂

2017: Stian Granshagen

Through his work at Finnmark motorsenter, Stian Granshagen has been a central piece in the logistics around the ATVs. He does a fantastic job both before, during and after the ride, to ensure painless delivery of the vital vehicles. And as if that wasn’t enough! Together with his wife Helene Granshagen, he operates checkpoint Jotka both on OF150, as well as 300 and 700. With his positive attitude and power of execution, nothing is a problem for Stian. An important piece for Offroad Finnmark, which we hope to have with us for many years to come. Together with Helene 🙂

2016: Geir Elde

Geir and Offroad Finnmark have a common soul, he lives and breathes for the development of quality and experiences. He is always faithful and helpful, always gives constructive feedback, always no matter what. He is one of the most significant expertise providers of all time in terms of long-term and positive contributions, theoretical and practical.
Geir has been involved and engaged in Offroad Finnmark for many years. He is one of those who arrive first and leave last. He is a zealot in the route committee and subsequently added names to parts of the route; Elde’s U-turn – loved and feared by cyclists. Has been in charge of checkpoints in Bojobæski for several years.

2015: Benjamin Ellingsen

Benjamin has been involved as a volunteer for at least two years. In 2015, he made a huge effort at the equestrian accommodation at Sandfallet School. He is cheerful and service-oriented – and makes a great effort – also seen in relation to his relatively young age 🙂

2014: Georg Andre Jungård

Georg popped his nose into our office in Løkkeveien a while before OffroadFinnmark was due to start. He asked if he could help with anything. YES! Since then he was everywhere, all the time! Positive, committed, solution-oriented are just some of the words we can say about Georg. He has promised that he will volunteer as well in 2015, but in 2016 he will cycle himself.

2013: Sylvi Johansen and Maria Thomassen

Sylvi Johansen, via her daughter (logistics manager Linn Johansen), has been involved more or less from the start. She has worked around checkpoints and this year she was at Jotka mountain lodge. In addition, together with Linn, she prepared all the food for the riders. She stood until her knees ached and the tears welled up. The old man, Thor Arnfred, is also a volunteer in offroad finnmark, so it is, as we see many other times, a real family project.

Maria has been involved for two years, both times as responsible for the accommodation at Gakori school. There she makes a great effort and does everything to ensure that visiting riders have a good time. We received the following greeting from Erik Skovgaard Knudsen (of700 winner): “It’s always difficult to single out one and that applies especially to Offroadfinnmark, because EVERYONE was fantastic there and deserves praise and thanks! But for us, Maria’s efforts were particularly valuable. She was always there for us and I don’t think I ever experienced her saying no to a task, or leaving a question unanswered.”

2012: Harald Opgård

Harald is a great gentleman who takes challenges head on, he has a genuine desire to contribute to making offroad Finnmark an ultimate experience for riders and the support apparatus. He is thrifty, conscientious and above all in a good mood. He is also a great ambassador for offroad finnmark, and he really deserves this year’s volunteer award

2011: Earl Arild Dahle

Faithful offroad finnmark helper for several years. It is simply impossible to get this man to say no. During the race you can find him at the secretariat – both day and night.
