Offroad Finnmark arose as a wild idea spun out of the environment at UiT Campus Alta, an environment that dared to think big and bold. The very special off-road race has gradually established itself to become world-renowned with participants from large parts of the world. The Offroad 700 is described as the world’s toughest off-road race and consists of one stage of a full 700 kilometers off-road.
Every year between 50 and 70 cyclists take part in this extreme challenge, and then in teams of 2 to 3 riders, or as solo riders in the newly established Offroad Finnmark 700 Solo.
Offroad Finnmark is perhaps the biggest mountain bike innovation in Norway since the origins of mountain biking in the early 80s. Today, Offroad Finnmark is a race where the participants like to experience that “the worst becomes the best” and that the experience and memories from the trip are indelible.
In addition to Ishavskraft OF700 and 700 Solo, Offroad Finnmark also organizes 5 other competitions, SmartDok OF300, DNB OF150, COOP Finnmark OF Youth 30 and 50, IFinnmark Folkeritt OF20 and Harald Nilsen OFBarneritt during 8 days at the end of July.
In addition, Offroad Finnmark was awarded the public health award in Finnmark in 2019.
